The most noticeable influence is “Universal Soldier,” a film that shares so many plot elements that “Bloodshot” can be classified as a blatant rip-off. Films like “ Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” “Robocop” and “Total Recall” are thrown into a blender and the diluted, flavorless results leave you hankering for the original ingredients. The movie which is an adaptation based on the comics published by Valiant Comics was directed by Michael Bay, the popular director of “Bad Boys,” and “6 Underground”.Even though “Bloodshot” is an adaptation of a comic book (unread by me), screenwriters Jeff Wadlow and Eric Heisserer take their cues and their plot details from a slew of far better movies in this genre.
Although the plot was predictable, its top-notch fighting scenes like the melee between Ray and a group of kidnappers keep you glued to the screen. After successfully killing him, he was picked up by RST and soon after revealed a twist that Harting has been wiping and programming his memories using his anger as a weapon to eliminate his rivals.Īt 1hr 45min, Bloodshot captures how strong revenge can be as a weapon.
